The Potters Bar and District Historical Society, is a registered charity (no. 1200797). Hertsmere Borough Council provides the Museum accommodation and also grant-aids most of the running costs.

As well as running the Museum, the PBDHS runs monthly evening meetings on a variety of historic topics every year from September through to July. They are held in the United Reform Church, Darkes Lane, Potters Bar, EN6 1BZ.

Potters Bar and District Historical Society Newsletter October 2026

This new Potters Bar and District Historical Society Newsletter is now available. Free to members, it contains a number of interesting articles diving into the history of Potters Bar and surrounding areas.

This quarter there are in depth articles on:

  • The Greyhound Public House, South Mimms
  • The Men of South Mimms WWI and WWII

The cover focusses on the new exhibition being prepared at Potters Bar Museum which opens this month:
The Potters Bar Hall of Fame – this Exhibition will cover the celebrities that called Potters Bar home for some part of their lives from the 17th Century to the present day.

Meetings:

There are regular talks to which members and non-members are welcome.
